David Letterman Blackmailer Walks Free

Earlier this year David Letterman was the target of an attempted blackmail scheme, and this week his extortionist Robert ?Joe? Halderman was released from jail.
Halderman was sentenced to six months behind bars, though due to good behavior he only served four months.
His lawyer told press, ?He survived this, and he?s glad to be getting off the island (referring to Rikers Island prison).?
Robert will still have to serve 1000 hours of community service and keep his nose clean for 4-and-a-half years probation.
Halderman was locked up after trying to extort $2 million from Letterman, threatening to expose an extramarital affair that had happened on the set of ?The Late Show.?
Instead, David turned Robert into the authorities and told the world about his dirty deeds on late night television.
